Very difficult question to answer... based on amount of use and quality of results on my 10D, it's a toss-up between the 70-200/2.8 IS and the 24-70/2.8. Both are incredible performers. the 24-70 prolly gets more use, so that would seem to be the tie-breaker.
Re-reading the above paragraph, I feel I'm slighting my Canon 100/2.8 Macro and Canon 15mm fisheye, both of which have earned my highest respect.
It's possible that my fav lens(es) will change with the migration to full-frame... only time will tell.
180mm F/3.5L Macro, without a doubt. It is not my most often used lens, not even close. But I still love the results from this lens more than any other I have owned.
The Sigma 30mm f/1.4 is now mounted on my cam most of the time. It's a great focal lengt on DX/APS-C and the f/1.4 allows a lot of dof creativity and low light shooting.
In order of favouriteness:
1) Sigma 30mm f/1.4
2) Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 VR (technically the best)
3) Nikkor 18-70 DX (tech less perfect, but very good range)

On your 20D the 50mm is nowhere near wide enough for decent interior coverage. Even the 30mm is marginal as far as wide angle goes. That'd be my choice of the two, though.
