Pawdrix: either by using some fancy software like Genuine Fractals (which is the one Alamy recommends) or possibly the fancier resizing features in the more recent PS versions - although what Alamy would think to that, I don't know.
How do you resize-up, to such large files. My images with the D70(6.1)are at 2000x3000. Is it a RAW thang?
Not really, but it does help.
I use extensis pixel smart scale to upsize my images. I take an 8 bit tiff at 18MB to about 50mb with no "noticable" image degredation. I'm not saying that it doesn't degrade the image, I'm just saying that I can't tell from viewing at 100%.

you can choose smoother or sharper versions of bicubic.
what you do at this point is increase your image by 10%
and repeat the process to get the size that you need.

Jodie, Pete (Ganders) got that information back from Alamy about their acceptance of LZW compression just as you also posted to say the same.
It makes sense to me that they would accept it but...
They need to clarify their submission guidelines to
a) state that LZW compression is accepted
and
b) state what resolution they'd like images to be in a way that is not related to file size, since when compressed, files of the same resolution will, of course, be smaller. Many of us understand that 48 MEG is shorthand for a resolution that provides roughly 16,000,000 pixels but many people don't have that understanding.

There's another thread around here somewhere that talks about Fred Miranda's ResizePro [ //www.fredmiranda.com/software/ ] and says it's as good or better than Genuine Fractals... and a lot cheaper.
I don't know if resizepro is better than GF, as I've never used GF. But, I've submitted images to Alamy upsized with resizepro, and they all got accepted. And I was certainly impressed with the quality of resizepro. Just a note from a satisfied user... :-) It's certainly a lot cheaper than GF.
Jodie, do you usually go for royalty free or rights managed?
I'm interested to know this too.
Pete and I have gone for rights managed so far given the type of images we've put in but when we add more stocky images we'll probably put those in on royalty free.
