For the Free Study Challenge, I tried several different things. In the end, it was between the one I submitted and these three. Please let me know what you guys think. And I'd be interested in seeing some more outtakes from this challenge.
Those break the "Things not to post here" rules..a cute kid, a pet or a flower. :-P
All very nice. I really like the perspective on the child..a nice bit of distortion. The flowers colors are very nice but you need a liitle more depth of field to get the blue parts more in detail.
Smiling picture is cool..needs some experimentation iwth cropping tighter or soemthing to focus more on the pitcher and get the shapes.

But the child one is a real keeper for sure.
The child picture is the only picture I was considering submitting. The only reason I didn't was because I know children pictures are in the "Things not to post here" category. I also thought that it was more of a snapshot. Thanks for the comments.

Roshan, I loved the flower and the girl. Regardless of what some folks say, there must be quite a few of us who like those types of pictures. Why else do we have so many pictures of children, flowers, and pets posted each week? I think you should post what you like and don't worry about the critics.

Yes, all three are very nice shots. And I agree, the little girl pic is a keeper. I, for one, happen to enjoy well done flowers, children and pet photos :-) Jill :^)
Here are my outtakesof "Sweet Spot" for free study. All were taken directly from the camera ..no adjustments were done. I did set the saturation to high in the camera settings though. The reason my shot looks a little pixelized is because I used 2x digital zoom

Cool, hokie. I like the first better than the second. Just out of curiosity though, what're those two metal-y looking thingys sticking up in back of the lens? Is it part of the mount? Mine don't look like that :-)

I liked the first one as well...it''s nice and clean.
The metal thingies are guides to tell you where the bayonet mount is I think. These lenses are totally manual prime lenses and designed for quick change work in the harshest of environments so you need a quick and clear reference for lense changing is my guess. I never was being shot at in a sand storm while taking a photo so I can only presume. :-)

I'll email you one of the cookies :) It was in the bowl when I first became "inspired"... The look on my wife's face when I said "Wait! Wait! let me get my camera" and started shooting into a bowl of butter would have won in the fear challenge. At least it scared me :)

Can't say why the grain may be there. Seems to be more noticeable in the second camera photo. I didn't crop excessively or any other unusual editing...hmmm.
But you know..I probably could have lessened it if I had done a black leveling..but I didn't want to lose the detail too much.
Decided to dump the pictures off of my camera today, and see what potentials I have form textures. AARRGGHHHHHHH. Found a couple I had snapped and forgotten about for Free Study. My current entry is faring okay, but I really like one of my outtakes. Guess I'll never know.
I also took another one that's cool, with flags, that I didn't post, but when I get home I'll put it up !
