I think a nice interpetation of this challenge would be what every mother of a son or daughter in the armed services fears the most, especially in our current national situation, the dreaded person in uniform coming up the walk.

Frankly, I think 120 photos of frightened people would be tedious. I feel there's more creative latitude in trying to evoke fear in the viewer or in representing fear (ala knife shadow on the shower curtain Hitchcock-style). Doesn't mean I have a clue how to do it, though!

I don't think it matters.
Go with a scared person and half your comments are "It didn't scare me".
Go with something scary, you'll hear... "Where's the scared person?"
I decided before my first post to this site never to care about scores or placing. I post here to see the critiques and get better.
Since I'm not going to have time to shoot this week, I'll just go with the verbal description of what I would have gone for.
I don't have a fisheye, so I was planning to use a wide angle adapter lens to create a little distortion. In the foreground, focused, is a report card full of Ds and Fs. A 2nd grade aged child is holding it behind his back (the child is a little out of focus). The child and report card fill up most of the screen, but in the background, there's an adult holding out his/her hand. In my mind, you don't see any heads, just upper bodies -- but I'm not sure if that would have worked.
Like I said in an earlier post, probably more humorous for the viewer than it is scary, but I think it's a great example of fear. :-)

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one wondering which way to go with photos for this challenge. If I keep thinking that it should be someone's reaction of fear, I won't be submitting anything. If I decide to go with something that I think is scary, then I might post. But, it's the holiday and my parents are in town visiting, so I may not have time anyway. Yeah, that's a good excuse for not coming up with anything creative. ;-)
Actually, I now have two ideas ( already shot one). They are both more humorous than scary, and will not be high quality photos. I just need to decide if I want to try a novelty photo, and take the punishment.
Fear to me is spiders, especially big ones. PLEASE nobody for the sake of my insanity, don't put a photo of a spider! Just a photo could bring me to tears!

But, I thought of something that could be scary to some women.... turning into their mothers as they grow older - or maybe that's scary to the women's husbands! ;-) Not sure how to shoot that one, though. :) Maybe something with mirrors and seeing your mother's face instead of your own... hmmm....
