I haven't done any raw shots yet, but how do you go about reading them in Photoshop CS.
When you go to open a .CRW file with PS CS it will automatically go into the RAW converter.
If it doesn't .... it's because you need to download the "update" to the raw converter. I don't think PS CS shipped with a converter for the 20D. But it's been posted on adobe's site for download for some time now.

If I intend to make prints should I alter the resolution before conversion ie using the raw dialogue or do it normally using bicubic conversion in PS itself?

An interesting question. I never used the "size" drop-down, so I hadn't realized you could actually raise the pixel count during conversion. My first thought would be to convert at the size it was shot at, then interpolate in PS using your method of choice.

I have been using the conversion in the RAW "box" dropdown, and get perfect results without any jaggies or artifact. The way I look at it is I am getting it to the larger size PRIOR to doing any other conversions, sharpening, etc. and thus MAYBE saving more data for those conversions.
I don't think DPP 1.5 is going to be useful for blemt.
Clara, there is a new-kid-on-the-block for RAW conversion software called RawShooter. Supposedly it was developed by the people who created Capture One. The big difference is that's it free, at least for the time being. Read about it in this thread: Free pro-level RAW file processing application
Fot those NikonD70 owners, what did you use to convert your RAW pics without using Photoshop? (Can't afford that yet).

I think Nikon capture is great, easy to use and has the fisheye tool too. I also use PSCS but as yet I have not ventured into it's RAW capabilities, for me, this is a 'one step at a time' adventure.
I have PhotoShop CS but do not use it to convert Raw files. I use RAWSHOOTER. This is the best RAW converter software I have found, it's free and a very small download. It handles most cameras, including Canon and Nikon
Anyone have any book suggestions on using RAW? I've just started to play around with it since I got my new computer.
