With a comment like that, if not for the subject, you might want to PM the author and ask them if they could clarify. You might want to wait until after the challenge, but if it really bothers you, go for it.
But in the end, I wouldn't worry about it. It's something you have to live with here. Some people are not very sensitive to others feelings, some are inexperienced with the written word, or some are inexperienced with this form of communication.
I am still willing to bet or at least hoping they meant it about the subject.

I’m eaten up with newbie disease; I must have checked my stats 100 times today. It will be good to get this first challenge out of the way and start sleeping again.
I solved this problem... Left the "My Score" box in "My Preferences" blank. The only minor pang I feel now is when the scores are announced, and I feel much better for it.
Ouch. I obviously made the mistake of thinking that I can take a good picture. Maybe I'll try sculpting with mashed potatoes or creating music by rubbing recycled paper together .......... hmmmm ........... maybe .......
