This is a lovely portrait Janine, I like the pose and the crop they are both very appealing. However, I feel it is somewhat overexposed, there is loss of detail in his clothing, but his face which is obviously the most important aspect of the image feels too light and flat, I feel it would definitely benefit from less exposure. I do like your original approach it gives the image more impact.

What an amazing rock strata, such subtle and beautiful colours. I like your composition, full of beautiful layers and forms, all really pleasing to the eye, its the sort of image that you can look at for a long time and continue to be stimulated by, I like it a lot. In terms of the challenge I failed to see how it fulfils the challenge brief, but having reread it does say ‘something’.

An appealing image that meets contributes to the open challenge well

A lovely golden hour seascape Janine. Though the sky and the foreground beach have some interest it is difficult to favour one over the other for compositional purposes which may be the reason it didn’t score higher. In this situation I will usually try and emphasise one over the other and more often than not I will choose the foreground, in this sort of situation I think this would have improved it and your result here but we will never know. Anyway, lovely image thanks for sharing.
