What a Ham!by DCrest01Comment by rlewis: ugly (the hog that is), great exposure and focus, the similarity of color and tone between the hog and the background makes the image sort of flat. |

Before Talkiesby DCrest01Comment by ThingFish: I remember that model. We used to have one way back too. But I remember that although they were silent movies the machine itself was not silent at all and made quite a whirring noise when running. But still..it does convey the concept of silence for this challenge. 5 |

What a Ham!by DCrest01Comment by MaryO: Interesting ears that piggie has. He actually looks pretty mean with those dark little eyes. Could probably stand a little more sharpening to bring out the harsh texture of his hair. |

Before Talkiesby DCrest01Comment by vawendy: I like the idea, but I'm afraid it didn't work for me--I remember these being so loud!! Now if the film had gotten all tangled up and wouldn't work anymore--no sound, period, I probably would have rated it very high. |

Before Talkiesby DCrest01Comment by Haneck: Neat concept, but the composition is weak and cluttered. I know from experience it's difficult to shoot such objects though, especially when trying to work in their accessories, such as the film reels. Just as a thought, maybe you could place a person in the picture, and have him/her putting the film on the projector or something. Or just try using the rule of thirds, or play with some interesting angles... Hope this helps! :) |

Applesby DCrest01Comment by Tygerr: Nice setup. Lacks sharpness, and the colours are a bit flat (white balance/curve adjustments might have helped). |
