If it weren't for the bit of white, I'd swear this was a picture of my parents' cat. Terribly cute - a nice catch on that tongue! I'm also impressed that the cat is cmpletely clear against the background, and still not miscolored from it. The light caught the left eye a bit, so the pupil is yellowed, but I didn't catch that till staring closely.

Straight black-and-white seems to pull away from the emotion that's obviously in this shot. What does it look like in sepia, or in color with really low saturation?

low key imo needs to have side or back lighting. The use of flash masks the fast this was to be low key. It does fit the black on black however.

this more or less feels like a snapshot to me. the lighting is pretty flat and doesn't offer much contrast on the cat's hair. overall i just don't find the image very interesting. 4.

What a gorgeous creature, and an imagitive capture! Incredible that you managed to get some definition out of the fur as well. Imho, it falls slightly outside of the challenge, but I am going to give it a 9 anyway, because the exposure of shots like this is so #/¤#/&¤ difficult.

Don't particularly like the focus on this. Looks just like my black cat to be honest. The flash in his eye on the left is just a killer for me perosnally.
