This is a nice idea - the interplay of the positive space (the stem) with the negative space (the shadow of the petals). I wonder if the petals could have been lit to make them disappear, so that only the shadow gave them away... Could the stamen have been included in the shot?

Anyway, nice picture, that doesn't do one corner to the other as the diagonal.

I love this. Especially the light coming from the right, it's so warm. It looks like someone looking at the lichen, a sort of puzzled look, like, "what is that stuff?". Love the little hairs sticking out. ~9

very soft. not sharpness soft, tactile soft, which works well with the subject. Like the rendering of the colors as pastels, also works with whole mood of image. Composition well done as is DOF. 7
