Comment by posthumous: DPofL was started by Yanni when he felt his solo work wasn't soulful enough. He hoped that by teaming with Michael Bolton and Kenny G he would find the deep meaning he sought. This power trio achieved its greatest depth on their second album, "the soul's journey." A concept album, it followed the soul of a dung beetle through fifty-seven reincarnations until finally it ended up as David Crosby where it achieved Nirvana at the business end of a Joni-Mitchell-shaped bong. This co-opting of 60s hippieness finally gave Yanni the serenity he needed to accept his profound superficiality, at which point he dissolved into a giant smile.
