I had been admiring the work of Claudio Piccoli https://www.claudiopiccoli.com/dogphotography , but just couldn't justify the cost of a workshop/training course with him. So I took it as a challenge, that "I can do this" :-D. Believe me, there were MANY, MANY shots that went into the bin. Plus I am lucky that my Girls are well trained and especially Flumi is willing to do stuff over and over :-). |

i checked out claudio piccoli ...stunning images ... what makes them so amazing .. for me .. is the shallow dof ..
anyway .. its like most things ... the more you do .. the better you will get .. especially if you have the desire and passion .. which i feel you have in spades .. i'll be looking forward to seeing more of your dogs doing amazing things in the challenges ..
ps . i visited your portfolio earlier today btw .. after this challenge rolled over .. and i absolutely love your dog photos especially .. another stand out for me was the 'distorted vision of oneself' .. incredible .. you are an amazing photographer .. :) |

I shot this in a studio set up. A softbox from left top, a GoDox flash without modifiers (because I haven't got one for the flash) from the right. If you look closely you can see the 2 light sources in her left eye.
It's the flash that created the shadows, and honestly it was a fluke. I wanted the dog to be "evenly lit", hence the 2 lights. I think I even had a white sheet on the floor as a reflector and my ceiling in the room is fairly low and also white.
I used my 50 mm Canon lens on f 11, 1/200. |
