Wheels of Repairby OneSweetSinComment: This is an excellent subject for this challenge. The photo is a good bit over exposed tho... I"m assuming these were dark colored, as most are. When you are pointing your camera at a predominantly dark colored scene, the reflected light coming back to your camera is less than it should be for a proper metering. I think that underexposing this shot by 1 stop (-1 EV) would probably bring it back to par. You may also be able to adjust some of this out with level adjustments also... |

Clouds of Fireby GraciousComment: Greetings from the Critique Club :)
Hi Gracious...
Nice sunset shot. The sky is beautiful :)
Compositionally, I think this photo is a bit lacking. I like landscapes that have an 'entry path'. This photo feels to me like it lacks grounding... a place for me to stand as I view the shot. Maybe you can find a composition that creates a nice foreground in this scene. Create that 'footing' and create a pathway....
Keep up the good work :)

Orange Bandsby eostylesComment: Greetings from the Critique Club...
Hi Eostyles...
This is a nice product shot.. very well executed. I haven't read your comments yet but I have no Idea why this didn't score much better than it did. Maybe when I read those comments, it will reveal a secret :)
Maybe the image, even though well executed, doesn't 'touch' anyone. Product photography often has this effect. It doesn't speak to me in any way other than to make me ask myself "would I buy a pair of these glasses?"
It appears that your border and your composition are in question from the comments... The composition is fine, in my opinion. The border may be a bit overdone, but it's not a point loss from me...

Southern Delight!by vtruanComment: Greetings from the Critique Club...
Hi Vtruan :)
This is a phenomenal photograph. I gave it a 10. Unfortunately, you probably suffered from the 'not enough orange in my face' syndrome in the challenge. The detail, tone, and overall aesthetics of this photo are just great.
Great work as usual :)

Fiery Marigoldby sfaliceComment: Greetings from the Critique Club...
Hi Sfalice...
I think you succeeded in creating 'orange' where none existed. Unfortunately, I think your subject suffered from the process. The detail and interest in this flower is in the shapes and textures of the bloom. Your back lighting makes the background more of the subject than the flower itself. Unfortunately, there is probably no way to correct this with your choice of subject. When I see a photo like this, I normally believe that the challenge topic is all the photographer had in mind. Sometimes a photo suffers when something is 'forced' into the challenge when it normally doesn't belong. In my humble opinion, I would have saved the marigold for a personal photograph and searched for something better fitting in the challenge.

Birder's Worldby debrownComment: Greetings from the Critique Club...
Hi Debrown :)
Cardinals are beautiful. These guys visit my back porch regularly and eat all my black oil sunflower seed when the squirrels aren't hogging it. This particular shot feels a little odd to me with the blur. The red also feels a bit too heavily saturated.

Crash in the nightby terjeComment: Greetings from the Critique Club...
Hi Terje :)
This is a classic theme for motion blur and it's nicely done. My initial feeling about this shot is that the exposure is too long. I think that if you re-try this photo and shoot it at f/11 and 10 seconds, you will probably see a huge improvement :)
