What a great capture! Love the lighting, colors, the sense of motion.
IMO, the dog is too centered - I think more space in front of him would add to the feel of the shot (even at the expense of losing some of the water droplets...).

IMO, two major things detract from this shot - the wrinkled back drop, and cropping off his feet. Great capture for expression & pose. I'm no expert, but it seems to me that the lighting is good (listen to others on this, though). Cute outfit, and nice match of color to skin / hair tones.

It is amazing just how shallow a DOF cameras will do. Unfortunately, the rear of the bee and near wing (leading edges of western eye scan of the image) are OOF.

For the curious, this is a banana, painted white, with pipe cleaner "wings", one side highlighted (painted?) in orange, the other in blue. Something different.
BTW - this is also featured in "Escape!" from the Polka Dots challenge.

For the curious, the purse is just a polka dotted purse, with some polka dotted cloth in it. The object that only Yo_Spiff guessed is indeed a banana (NOT battery powered), painted white, "wings" made from pipe cleaners inserted on either side, and highlighted in orange on one side and blue on the other. I suspended it from a thread, and caught the bottom of the banana in the purse so it would stay in the desired position. Top of the shot was a bit dark to hide the thread, and yes, I used the on-camera flash (at least part of it - held my hand in front of part of it).
Guess that score will teach me to be creative!
