What a moment! We are forced to try and get into that young man head as he views the scene himself. Those other choices you made elevate this for me even higher: the yellow cast (maybe to eliminate the sea?) making it look like you used an expired film; that you chopped man and animal equally (I even like that redundantly looking small bird turning her back to the happening).
