beachscape twoby HUETHComment: I always try to understand what the photographer was thinking when they compose and take a picture. At first I see a scene of dirt and brush, interesting clouds and your title which suggests a beach scene. Then I see the smokestack in the background and I wonder what its relevance is in your composition. Maybe I’m reading too much into it but I’m imagining that you are making a statement about the environment, possibly the effects of global warming and man’s role in it all. Am I right? If that is the case I give you high marks for a very introspective and controversial creative composition. |

winter-around-5-PMby mariucaComment: I like your title in that it makes sense of what you were thinking about when you took this picture. Of course it’s not a glamorous mind blowing landscape, but it shows an average day in the city as people are walking home from work. Everyone can relate. |

Hopeby KenComment: You have made a good attempt at showing the details of a somewhat gloomy day. It’s very hard to expose the snow adequately without making the rest of the scene too dark and visa versa. |

The other sideby GeorgesBogaertComment: I always like reflections in water. This has a very dark feeling to it. I would like to see how it looks in B&W and bringing up the brightness a little to define the buildings and clouds. |

Finding comfort in my isolationby markwileyComment: Very cool viewpoint. I like the texture of the water. I kind of like it when I scroll up to crop out the horizon. It makes it more like a panorama and accentuates the negative space, the ripples in the water and draws my eye more to the lighthouse. Still a very good picture. |

Valley View by glad2badadComment: Awesome scene. I love the contrast of the straight lines of the clouds against the rolling hills. The mist gives it an ephemeral feel. |

The Mole in Midwinterby Bear_MusicComment: I like the contrast of the sparkling water with the silhouette of the family on the pier. A typical family shot with the dad playing with the kids and the mom looking over to make sure they don’t kill themselves! Nice capture. |

7 swans a-swimmingby sandersComment: This reminds me of a time when I was out shooting pictures of geese. From a distance I saw a farm field full of geese. I wanted to sneak up on them and see if I could get some pictures of the flock taking off into the sky. I parked the car a distance away so as not to scare them. Slowly I snuck up on them. Luckily they did not seem to be startled as I approached. Then I noticed they weren’t moving at all. It was a field of decoys! I looked around to make sure no one was looking. Boy did I feel stupid! |
