This is a great photo, showing the rural decay from the inside out (whereas most others chose to show it the other way). Excellent use of B&W. Composition and detail are good... and I love the story this image seems to be telling. Only gave it a 6 in my gut-feel first pass voting pass, but clearly, looking at it now, it's deserving of much more... an 8 is more fitting I feel. Hope it does well... it's one of the best images in the challenge. Well done.

Great image. Love the mountains and the clouds... the building is too centred for my liking though. Would have given in an extra one or two if not for that I reckon... none the less... still one of the higher scoring photos from my voting contribution for this challenge.

Yet another image I was much too harsh on when doing my first pass voting. This is a wonderful image. Well composed... great detail... just wonderful all over. Reminds me of the Victorian high country after last summers fires... actually wouldn't be surprised if it actually is a photo from up there... anyway... initially gave it a 7, but now think it deserves a 9. Well done with a great image.

An excellent image for this challenge. Processed perfectly. Composition and detail are fantastic... this should get a ribbon. Originally gave it a 7 (think it was only of the early votes and I hadn't established the baseline for the challenge at the time), but clearly deserves a bump... to an 8.. perhaps for now... but I might be back after commenting on some more to bump it further.

One of my favourite images in the challenge. I'm a bit of a sucker for dead trees and strangely coloured skies... one first pass I gave this an 8, but upon reflection I feel it deserves a little more, so will nudge it to a 9. Good luck.

One of my favourite images in this challenge. I gave it an 8 during my voting pass, but now bumping it to a 9 during my comment pass. I love the minimalism and the Christmas connection you've captured. My only wish... that more DPCers took photos like this. Well done.

Tossing cards, killing time

This is an image that may not fair well with the 10 second voters... well, it'd probably do okay, as I gave it a 7 on my voting pass for the challenge and probably only gave it about that, but only know while commenting do I get a true appreciation of the subtleties of it. The translucent 3 of clubs, the long exposure giving us the tossing hand motion (noticed the blurred hands but didn't make the connection... my defence... I DID have a roasting temperature for the past few days, during which I voted... good thing I'm better now and I'm back)... and I love the read boxers. So, now that I've noticed that, I think even a 7 might have been a bit harsh (and I don't give out too many 7), so I think an 8 is more like what this image deserves.
