Great idea. Good composition. I feel that the DOF is a tad too shallow with the tip of the cotton bud out of focus... had the whole head been in focus, I think you might have had a winner.

Very nice. I like the bokeh (think you were right in entering Personification though)... the background sets the scene well. The low level in the perfume bottle makes it look like a nice skirt, and the hour curved pattern all work wonderfully. In addition, I have to add a point or two for the connection between the object photographed and the person it's representing. Well done!
