You look so cute with your hair like that! ;-) Should do pigtails more often

I think you may have made the right choice. Without the title, I wouldn't have understood what this was. Maybe if we could see the nail just a bit more to get more sense of the DOF?

I like how you've captured the wax sripping, but I wish the whole flame was in there.

Very nice!! Very sultry and provacative. Two things, I'd like to see her chin, and whatever the background is around her hair is a little odd. Otherwise, great energy and dynamic! Nice work!

Oh this is so sweet! Love the connection between the two! My only critiques I see are around Gracie's head. The top of her hair seems to almost blend in the background, and the left and her forehead seems a touch blown out. Otherwise, what a wonderful shot! One to show to her future suitors ;)

*Salut from the Critique Club!*

I noticed this is your first challange photo. First off, welcome to DPC. Enjoy the ride, and I hope you find this site as wonderful as I do.

Now, the picture.

Excellent first challenge entry!

Few things I did notice

First, subject matter - You've chosen a nice subject. Lots of people have soft spots for the old bug (myself included) and you've not only found a nice nostalgic collection, they are in different colours as well. Definitely a neat collection, so the challenge was fulfilled quite nicely.

Now, I noticed you got quite a few comments about the date stamp. It is true that here at DPC, there is a rule that states no text on pictures. In this case, it seems to have been overlooked, but be forearned, in the future, it will not be tolerated and you're picture may be DQ'ed which is never fun.

Composition - I also noticed some of your comments regarded how centered this picture is. Next time you take pictures for a challenge, try putting your subject in different parts of the frame, not just the center, and see how it looks. The rule of thirds is a handy tool to create a dynamic to your picture without doing anything else.

I'm not sure if you did any post processing to your pictures. I would suggest tweaking the colors and sautration a bit. The colors in the picture in general are a bit flat, which detracts from the picture. Some levels or curves and a slight boost in color saturation will help make the colours more vibrant, adding more dimension to the picture.

You're off to a good start! Keep taking pictures, and if you have any question, feel free to pm me.

Cheers!

Oh My
Er, uhm, well, ok. Sorry, I'm a little intimidated!

*Salut from the critique club!*

You're my first ribboning CC, so, here goes nothing! :)

First off, excellent picture. Nice depth of focus, excellent composition, interesting subject matter, and well lit.

Here are the only things I can find to nit pick about. While I like the shells going from dark to light, did you try it going the other way? I see some nice color gradients in the lighter shells in the background, and I wonder how it would look going from light to dark.

The other, thing, though I don't know if this would work, is to maybe turn the shells ends towards the viewer just a touch so you can see more of the spiral pattern at the shells end.

So, not much to critique on an excellent, well deserved riboon shot.

Good luck, and have you thought about becoming a member? More challenges to enter! :)

Cheers
Pidge
