Harsh landsby NatashaComment: I love the starkness, and the moody feel of this shot, and feel that b&w is perfect for the photo. I like the composition focusing on the tree and sky with just the suggestion of buildings at the bottom. This shot has a lot of impact for me. 10. lhall |

Burnin' Oneby LindaLeeComment: Yes, my husband did hold still like that for the whole 8 seconds ! He's a great model. It was also "set up". In fact, I think in total, I took about 30 shots until I got the look that I was going for - I'd take 5 or 10 ten shots, dump them onto the computer to see how they looked, then go back and try again. It was a lot of fun, but more important for me, it taught me a lot about shutter speed and aperture, and how to achieve an effect.

A Melancholy Songby indigo997Comment: At first glance, I liked the moody, ethereal feel of this shot. After studying it more, I feel that the blue color cast on the child makes her look ill, and that makes me feel a uncomfortable. For the composition, I think that placing the child more to the right hand side of the frame, with the neck of the instrument, and her legs/feet angling to the left, into the "negative space" of the frame, would have been more effective for me. I still like the overall "feel" of the shot. lhall |

Live Proudby memoComment: I cannot believe that more people didn't do flags for this challenge - I certainly thought about it!! I'm glad now that I didn't because I couldn't have beat this. Very nice, I love the art feel of it. lhall |

Blue Ladyby JEMComment: A beautiful shot with good composition, the person standing to her right distracts me a tiny bit, but since the angle of the pants is in parallel with her arm, the distraction is minimal. lhall |

The Secret Gardenby andrewmComment: One of my favorites this week. I love the colors, the composition, and I must have a *thing* about photos of doors, because I seem to be drawn to them. At first, I didn't care for the darker area at the top of, and above, the door, but the more I look at it, the more I think it suits the photo. It gives it a more mysterious feel. lhall |

Misty Severnby scoombeComment: My husband and I have been debating whether this is the Severn River in Maryland, where we are from. A fabulous shot, I would hang this on my wall in a heartbeat! A 10 for me. lhall |
