looks like your vanishing point disappeared not in the perspective (as description suggested), but in this nice rich shadow...:-) I'm wondering if it was possible to stand between the arrow and dotted line visible on the right of your photo and capture them both (may be wider angle was needed)...than the arrow would be pointing to the disappearing line...Sorry, just thinking out loud here. :-) I don't think that was the point of your photo, which I like.
