I love macro and this is a beautiful shot. I suppose you "could" crop in as MattO suggested, but I quite like to see the "whole picture". I must say, I am impressed that you can hand hold the macro shot. I have tried often, but have given up on that now.

I think this is the first image of yours that I am not mad about. You had a great eye in seeing it, but I love your soft coloured images and this is very different ... looking at the image in your comments, I wonder if the left hand window, done in colour would be more what "you" ... but then who wants to be so predicatble? :-)

Another amazing image ursula. I love it. The blue, white and brown .. beautiful.
Those birches are HUGE! Its one of the trees that does not like our climate at all. There are a few small ones in gardens, but nothing like this. Stunning

I agree with nam, just a little more light in the eye, which is easy to do.
Overall I think this is a lovely shot. Perhaps the portrait experts could weigh in here, I am wondering if you couldn't crop it more to make the cut off tip of the ear less of a problem. I think the BG and the deatil in the dog (fur) is lovely. He really stands out.

African Olive Pigeon (PAW 11/52)

Very nice capture Harvey. Could be used as an ID type photograph.
I think the de-noise worked well.
Personally I would like to see it a bit crisper, have you tried the "Sharpen I" in Topaz?
Also the black in the tail and left wing is very dark (no detail). I am sure you shot RAW? can't you lift the shadows a bit?
Sorry, I probably sound overly critical. I hear a lot of judges at the local club comment on bird photographs and have become very "alert" (not that I shoot birds myself ... always easier to comment than do yourself, I know).

If you ever feel the need to shoot some more of these come and visit. We have several resident ones here on the property.

You did a fabulous job on the cloning. Got to love "photoshop" :-).
Just one minor detail, if I may. The very white leaf is the only one that stands out quite so obvious. Hence it is fairly easy to pick up a "pattern" in the BG, even if you did not know that you have edited it. I would tone down that leaf considerably. You seem to have darkened the other leaves around it, but to my eye its the white one that gives you away.
