A Mother's Lament

Title is very nice. For me the balance between face and chest is not working. I love the face, love the hands . . . wish she'd been wearing something different so I didn't have such an expanse of shoulder/chest. What bothers me is that I find I have to stop and figure out what this is every time I view it - the initial impression is just of a big, amorphous blob in the center. Gave it a 7 as I do like so much about it. Voted days ago . . . back to comment on a few.

Spiral Staircase

Love the lines, shapes, spiral. Whites could be a bit whiter for me, but I wouldn't want any more light area, so I'm not sure. I would probably look at reducing the lightness of the largest area (the top arc) and then maybe making that very narrow, jagged spiral whiter. Not sure how, though LOL Voted days ago . . . back to comment on a few. 7 here
