This is a superb capture and a wonderful shot, I just wasn't crazy about the processing steps in trying to lighten the egret. It seems like the lightening was done on such a small area -- the egret and a little around it, that it looked artificial. I've had this problem quite a bit. It would be interesting to see the original and see if there were better options. It is beautiful, and I gave it a 7, but it seems like the processing just wasn't up to the incredible capture -- which happens to me all the time! Well seen and grabbed!

Hmmm... something doesn't feel right on this one. I'd be curious to see what it would have looked like if the person wasn't so far to the side. The face isn't quite out of focus enough, so it draws the eyes away from the interesting part of the photo.

It's really intriguing, but something just doesn't seem right. I'm wondering if it was a bit brighter if that would help? It seems like a beautiful song that's just a bit out of tune...

Really lovely! I wonder what it would look like cropped in even more. The bottom 1/3 seems to draw too much attention, even though it's not in focus or not silky enough. It's the upper left/upper middle that are so gorgeous. -7-

I find this quite intriguing. There's only a bit of splash, and yet it's a huge splash of light. The bits of sparkle on the right add instead of detract -- which surprises me. Not something I'd normally like - but it grabbed me. -8-

I agree that adding the room to the left was a good choice. The right part of the photo was nice enough, but the fact that the left was so different, different warmth, particularly, draws your eye to it and does intensify the feeling of emptiness. If you were going for pretty -- just the right part. But when you're going for the ghost town/empty feeling, it adds quite a bit to the story.
