Picture Lightby gcosueComment: Except for the negative aspect of so many dead trees, I don't think the phone books add to the overall concept or effect. Would like to see the same shot with just the picture, empty chair, and the blank TV. |

ndn carby WRenComment: Eye goes to the subject right away. I myself would play with the tone curve(s) to try and keep a little more texture in the clouds while retaining the overall silhouette look. Limited resolution is causing the diagonal lines to get a bit jaggy, but they're supposed to be in the background anyway. |

The Smithfield Street Bridgeby alanfreedComment: Great color effects. I'm not sure if I'd like it better with still water/clearer reflections or this way, but if it were convenient I'd reshoot it myself if possible. I really like everything else about it. |

mirror mirrorby jeboComment: I find the tree to the left of the mirror a little distracting; I'd have tried cropping a little from the left and bottom. I like pretty much everything else about it -- maybe tipping the mirror down a touch would make the rows of trees more parallel (I don't know if it would look better or not, but it would be nice to see). |

Not Very Excitingby jdincolspringsComment: Your shot would have been ruined if they'd installed these pigeon repellants there: //www.pbase.com/image/4984661 |

After Curfewby GeneralEComment: Thanks for all your comments. I think hbunch has my interpretation most correct -- this is a "negative" space in the societal as well as photographic context. Those tetherballs are surrounded by a space which should be filled with kids -- since I shot it right in the middle of the school day it's amazing I got a shot with no one in it except someone way off in the distant trees. I darkened the overall look to make it more depressing-looking; maybe a brightly-lit daytime scene with no kids would be better?
