Concentrationby scribeComment: Lighting seems a little harsh to me, maybe especially with your title. Maybe if you were trying to convery "startled" then the brighter light and deep shadows would "fit" better. |

Portrait Doubleby ColeyComment: Pretty well-executed example of this technique -- I might have used the Burn or Clone tools to tone down the brightest highlights on the chin. |

Forty-Nineby charmayneComment: I'm not sure I understand the reason for the rather unusual profile composition. Exposure, detail, etc. seem good. |

Annaby heidaComment: My first impulse is to crop a little more off the right, but it doesn't seem to be a big deal. A good use of the "non-portrait" format. |

Princess by SonifoComment: Hmmm... yes, the crinkly light dress is a studio mainstay. Nice example of the genre ... |

Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboyby L1Comment: I think maybe a square crop would reinforce/concentrate the intensity of your subject -- right now, I don't think the extra image on the sides adds that much, and you'll still be able to tell it's a hat. |

Katherineby kncoughlinComment: Good combination of softness and detail. Square crop works well with proportions of large underlying shapes. |

Dreamerby NazgulComment: On my monitor it seems a bit bright for the mood I think you're trying to evoke; otherwise I like idea, composition, background, detail. etc..... |

Self-portrait With Flowersby carlacrypticComment: Great colors/exposure, "busy" background works in this case. Since this was an Advanced rules challenge, I'd have re-touched the iris of the left eye to cover the bright area. |

Wondering...by bruskiComment: I like the strong diagonal composition. Focus is a little too soft for my taste, and I'd like to see how it would look with some reflected light from the right to soften (not eliminate) the deeper shadows. |
